TEAM WELCH Alpine Race Team

Our advanced ski racing program, fully supported and administered by Welch Village. Low coach-to-athlete ratios mean more personal feedback and more training reps, and our athletes get exclusive access to the best terrain in the Twin Cities market.

How We Coach

Our race coaches use the PMTS Racer Development system, a modern, movement-based approach designed for advanced athletes in both slalom and giant slalom. Training combines gate drills, full gate training, video analysis and regular timed runs to build the speed and technical skill that wins races. TEAM WELCH athletes also get exclusive access to our Tow Pro rope tow lift and the Sweeny slalom training hill.

Full Program (Scored and FIS)

Ages 12+ (U14)

Scored racing puts US Ski and Snowboard club athletes against other athletes across Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin. Includes the full training schedule plus licensed coaching support at five CR1 region races.

FIS athletes must be 16 or older as of January 1 and must hold a FIS competition membership. FIS racing runs across the Midwest, the USA and Canada, mostly Friday through Sunday, with some four-day events.

Advanced race training for high school athletes who want to train with our TEAM WELCH athletes but are not planning to attend weekend Scored or FIS races. Formerly called the Welch Village Race Academy. Includes the entire training schedule.

2026/27 Training Schedule

Open to all TEAM WELCH Scored, FIS and Associate athletes.

Weeknights, every week: Monday 6:00 to 8:00pm and Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Weekends: 8 to 9 weekends during the season on non-race weekends. Dates are set once the CR1 schedule is released.
Camps: Colorado Fall Race Camp in Loveland (space very limited, extra cost, priority to TEAM WELCH athletes), Thanksgiving Camp (weather dependent), and Christmas Race Camp.

2026/27 race schedule pending. The USSA Central schedule has not been released. Last season’s Scored slate was Giants Ridge (Dec 13-14), Buck Hill / Chuck Stone Race (Dec 23), La Crosse (Jan 24-25), Afton Night GS (Feb 13) and Mont Du Lac (Mar 14-15).
