Welch Village is the only licensed PMTS Direct Parallel®ski school in the country. PMTS Direct Parallel® is unique - it's a complete modern teaching system that does not use the wedge or "snow plow." All movements taught in our system utilize modern ski design and create and maintain balance. The system teaches expert skiing movements to all ability levels using Student Centered Ski Instruction™ which uses a student's needs and motivations to design a learning environment.

Whether your child has recently started skiing or would like to ski more challenging terrain out west, Carver coaches will fulfill your family's goals and motivations through the PMTS Direct Parallel teaching system. PMTS enables our coaches to build a more confident and efficient parallel skiing technique in every child. Regular progress is communicated to parents and each is student is coached in the same small group every week. New this year, we are offering three types of Carver programs, all of which cater to various abilities.
A program for newer skiers age 6-12 (by 12/1/17) that will focus on parallel ski movements in order to increase balance and confidence on more difficult terrain. There is a 4:1 instructor to student ratio in this program to ensure a high level of personal feedback. Students must be able to ride the chairlift unassisted and already be able to ski green runs to register for this program. Space is limited.
A program for skiers age 7-12 (by 12/1/17) who are seeking a more challenging ski instruction program. Kids must be comfortable skiing all green and most blue terrain to register for this program. By the time your kids finish program, they should be ready to ski some black terrain and ski more of the mountains out west. Space is limited.
Black Carvers is a program for skiers age 9-14 (as of 12/1/17) who are seeking a more challenging lesson program that does not include racing. Some race-type drills may be used in this program. However, Black Carver coaches will focus on building a technique that will enable the students to ski with more confidence on black & mountain terrain in all conditions. If you are planning a ski trip to Big Sky, Montana and would like your kids to ski the Lone Peak bowl and Congo with you, enroll them in this program. Just be ready to keep up! Space is limited.
